Brown, deep green, and coral

Something about brown paper placed with luscious
deep green, and a pop of coral (or any other pop of color)...

Just another observation

Ever so often, my sister and I will miss hanging out. Then when we do hang out, we remember
why we don't hang out. She thinks I'm difficult to be around. That's because I am her sister.

Redondo Beach

This was literally walking down memory lane. That aisle in the last photo above was where all
the old men would stand fishing. It used to be much more crowded when I went as a kid.
There would be buckets upon buckets containing the fish they had caught. I would look into
every bucket to see how many fish were caught and what the fish looked like, always feeling
sorry for them, especially the ones that were in buckets with zero water, in the meanwhile waiting
to be seated for dinner. Crabs. We'd always go for crabs, crabs that were alive minutes before
we'd pound them open with wooden gavels. Oh the circle of life.

Nothing has changed here. I love it.

Parking meters

Strange but true, parking meters give me slight anxiety. I have many times, if not always, tried
to stuff dollar bills, credit cards, and parking stubs into the wrong slot, creating much
embarrassment for me and my company. Surely I can't be the only human troubled by parking meters.
Sometimes there's just one too many slots so similar in dimension you can only complete
payment through trial and error, in my opinion. Right?

Old hobby

Oh how I miss old summer days, sewing whatever my mind and fashion sense desired.
It's not the same anymore. My then hobby that brought so much joy and excitement
has turned into somewhat of a task. I blame work (aka growing up).

So silly.

Monday blues

Had one of those days where anything and everything was irritating.
I can't explain it, exactly. No one did anything to cause this sour mood, nothing
has happened to me to feel this way, but I was just a grumpy, annoyed being today.

De novo. Tomorrow will be a new day.

Simple Saturdays

You know what I've really been enjoying? Saturdays that are spent with a friend,
just eating, going from one place to another, and of course grabbing an
excellent iced vanilla latte in the day. Nothing crazy, something simple.

LA is my preferance where there's lots of good food and coffee shops.
I love and hate LA.

A little rant of mine...

I was in line at Gap to checkout. There were two elderly ladies working at the register.
It wasn't the fastest service, but no problem, just wait. Normally, I do not eaves drop, but
the store was quiet, I was waiting in line for quite some time, and the woman behind me
with her friend was unbelievably negative to the point I was bothered.

Here's a list of stuff she said in a tone that made me cringe:

1. What happened to her. She got so big. How could she let herself get so big.
(talking about a friend of hers)

2. Her new boyfriend was hideous too. He has plugs. Ew. Loser. If someone has plugs,
they're an automatic loser. Plugs equals loser. Who's going to take you seriously with
huge holes on your ear.

3. Why are they so slow. Ugh. This line is taking forever. Seriously.

Not one thing she said that entire time was nice. There was more, but I can't remember
them all. It was endless. Such negativity, I hope she finds happiness somehow,
because she's missing out. That has got to be tiring to be so negative...just listening
to her for seven minutes wore me out.

Rant over.

Ceilings

Do you look up when you enter a new environment?
I think ceilings have so much character and add tremendously
to the feel of a room. Personally, I'm a big fan of exposed
structures. Seeing the skeleton of a structure is raw,
and I like that.

There is no one in the world I hate to love more than my sister. We are so
different—probably wouldn't be friends in life if we weren't sisters. Personality,
interests, style, approach to matters, music, temperament, humor, hobbies,
they're all very different, it's hard to believe we came from the same people.

Analog

It terrifies me knowing that kids as young as elementary are being required to
purchase laptops. Technology undeniably has its perks and strengths, but I'm a
strong believer in the art of writing. Writing has so much history, so much
personal character, and enriches your brain on so many levels that digital
outlets can not.

For me, there is also a sense of comfort when I have something written on paper
—a kind of reassurance through something tangible and lasting. Unless I
lose, burn, or throw away that piece of paper, I'll have it with me for as long as I
can. Though blogs and websites can save information and leave digital
footprints, I can never whole-heartedly trust technology. There can always be a
sudden wipe out, crash, glitch or a permanant deletion I can not have control
over unless I am a tech wizard. But since I am not, I don't trust it.

Writing is also human. I feel a sense of reality and connection (corny, I know)
when I write or read hand-written notes. It just feels natural and right.

I always keep a notebook and pen with me. I jot down thoughts and ideas that
pop into my head. Sometimes I'll be driving and have this idea, and I literally
have to assert myself that I can not drive and write at the same time.

All the time, I'll meet someone and get really curious about their handwriting. It's
weird. I will try to catch glimpses or seize opportunities where their handwriting is
exposed. I can't explain it, but I just like to see the way people write their letters and
words and put a name and face to it. Sometimes I think I know what to expect, and
then I'm completely surprised. They're all so different, unique and personable, I love it.
There's actually this moment every time I see someone's handwriting for the first
time, I pause for a second and smile inside, sometimes my smile shows on my
face, sometimes it doesn't, but I smile. It's a beautiful thing.

I can go on about my love for analog ways, but I'm full and tired. Pardon the
botchy flow of this post. Work was long.

Photo: quotes I love and love to write for memory's sake.

Labels

I like this cup because it's plain. I don't know where this stemmed from, but I have
a thing against labels. I can't quite understand my distaste for flashy, loud designer
brands you can spot a mile away. I've personally never liked Louis Vuitton (I had to
google "Vuitton" just now because I don't know how to spell it), Chanel, or anything
you can look at and instantly recognize the brand through it's label or print. I appreciate
things that are ultra understated with no label visible on the exterior. To me, those
brands seem to care more about the actual design and structure rather than their
label being recognized by as many and however many. Really good design to me is
something that doesn't need all that loud, in your face, shiny, I am this mega brand
appearance. I am being totally biased, because I just love simple, quiet things.

It's funny cause my sister and mom like and own Louis Vuitton and Chanel. If they
like it, they like it, and that is totally fine. I just can't see what is so great about them,
an odd quandary for a girl to speculate, I suppose. I have yet to meet anyone who shares
this weird perception and opinion on these brands that are obviously so loved by many.

Then again, I just may be the black sheep. I don't like Disneyland either–cue gasps and
disbelief–last visit to the happiest place on earth was 6 years ago. I know, preposterous.
I am not sorry though.

Cyber fights

After I read an article, I will scroll down and read some of the comments.
I find it so amusing how people will feel the need to post nasty comments;
freedom of speech aside, can't they just read the article and enjoy it for what it is?
If you don't like it, just stop reading it and carry on with your day. Some people just
can't let it go and then it becomes this comment war about who can out smart
each other with grammar, type out witty comebacks, and it's just quite amusing.
It doesn't help that I read them...
