Parking meters

Strange but true, parking meters give me slight anxiety. I have many times, if not always, tried
to stuff dollar bills, credit cards, and parking stubs into the wrong slot, creating much
embarrassment for me and my company. Surely I can't be the only human troubled by parking meters.
Sometimes there's just one too many slots so similar in dimension you can only complete
payment through trial and error, in my opinion. Right?

Ficus Elastica

I have been obsessing over this plant called the Rubber Tree Plant, more properly known
as Ficus Elastica. Trimmed to my liking, this plant would be great as a desk plant, or once I get my
hardwood floors installed, it can stand tall and proud by some room pieces. I don't like this bushy.
I like it rather trimmed, airy and structured like a single branch of a Eucalyptus. So excited to find
my buddy this weekend. I hope I will give it a good, healthy, happy life.

Old hobby

Oh how I miss old summer days, sewing whatever my mind and fashion sense desired.
It's not the same anymore. My then hobby that brought so much joy and excitement
has turned into somewhat of a task. I blame work (aka growing up).

So silly.

Poor plants

The weather has been so hot these days, I can't help but wonder about all the plants and trees.
Aren't they really thirsty and almost frying in the heat? Look at this guy, he's looking shriveled.
Poor plants.

I yearn for fall and winter. This heat makes me short tempered.

Monday blues

Had one of those days where anything and everything was irritating.
I can't explain it, exactly. No one did anything to cause this sour mood, nothing
has happened to me to feel this way, but I was just a grumpy, annoyed being today.

De novo. Tomorrow will be a new day.

Simple Saturdays

You know what I've really been enjoying? Saturdays that are spent with a friend,
just eating, going from one place to another, and of course grabbing an
excellent iced vanilla latte in the day. Nothing crazy, something simple.

LA is my preferance where there's lots of good food and coffee shops.
I love and hate LA.

A little rant of mine...

I was in line at Gap to checkout. There were two elderly ladies working at the register.
It wasn't the fastest service, but no problem, just wait. Normally, I do not eaves drop, but
the store was quiet, I was waiting in line for quite some time, and the woman behind me
with her friend was unbelievably negative to the point I was bothered.

Here's a list of stuff she said in a tone that made me cringe:

1. What happened to her. She got so big. How could she let herself get so big.
(talking about a friend of hers)

2. Her new boyfriend was hideous too. He has plugs. Ew. Loser. If someone has plugs,
they're an automatic loser. Plugs equals loser. Who's going to take you seriously with
huge holes on your ear.

3. Why are they so slow. Ugh. This line is taking forever. Seriously.

Not one thing she said that entire time was nice. There was more, but I can't remember
them all. It was endless. Such negativity, I hope she finds happiness somehow,
because she's missing out. That has got to be tiring to be so negative...just listening
to her for seven minutes wore me out.

Rant over.

A glimpse

Today, my dad told me a little bit about his childhood — something he never talked
to me about. It all happened with showing him how to set an image for his desktop
screen. It was an image of Jeunju, his hometown. He proceeded to say, "Laura, this
is where I grew up, right here" as he pointed to the screen. He continued to
describe and explain as he pointed out where he went to school, where he used
to walk and play, and his home. I stood by the chair for as long as he'd talk, listening and
feeling so emotional — happy emotions.

If I was invisible, I would have been a crying mess, but me being the "cold" one in the
family that "never cries", I had to hold back my tears, making sure to stand behind him
on his chair...repeating in my mind, "don't turn around, don't turn around."
My heart just feels so warm.

Music

You know, it's rare, for me anyway, to love an artist's music from the day I discovered them,
to today, without having gotten sick of them at any point leading up to this day. Coldplay and
Radiohead are two bands I have never, ever gotten sick of. I can listen to their song at any
given moment and be completely satisfied. Their old tracks are always just as good as
their new, and vice versa. What is it about those two that can have such a place in my life
like instrumental sorcery?! I do not know...they are just that good.

The point of that was just to say how much I've been listening to Coldplay's new songs
that have been released. I've heard mixed reviews about their album "Ghost Stories"
saying they're trying to be pop-y but I quite like it. It's different from their other
albums...and frankly, Coldplay can do no wrong in my ears.

Beyond honorable mentions like Otis Redding, Billie Holiday, Edith Piaf, Wendy Rene,
Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Bob Marley, The Rolling Stones, The Animals,
and The Doors never get old as well...ugh love them.

Very impressive.

24

I'm twenty-four. Contrary to the norm, I love getting older. I look forward to it.
I like aging. Every year that I live, I learn. I learn life lessons that happen naturally,
to be more comfortable with myself, to be open-minded, understanding, and
patient with people, things, and ideas, and most importantly, I am most thankful and
appreciative of everything in my life; what has happened, what is happening, and
what may happen. No doubt, I have many things to work on, like most everyone.
It took a while, but it's clearer than ever how He has been watching over my life,
providing, guiding, and blessing so graciously with the people in my life, circumstances
that were beyond my control, and where I'm at right now. I am amazed.

Though I am not one to celebrate my birthdays with parties or even a dinner,
it was nice this year to just eat a nice meal with some close friends.

Cheers to being twenty-four.
